What is the Star Wars Fan Film Race?

The Star Wars Fan Film Race a short-form film competition for filmmakers of all experience levels. Participants will create an original, all-ages Star Wars–inspired fan film under five minutes. Up to 25 films will be screened during the Fan Film Premiere on May 2nd at Santa Fe Blount Hall as part of the May 4th Social celebration.

How It Works

Sign up and download the official race kit with over 800 MBs

Create Your Film
You have until April 1st, 2026 to write, shoot, edit, and delivery your film.

Submit + Premiere
Submit your film and attend the screening on May 2nd. Winners announced May 3rd.

Rules

    • Up. to 25 films will be accepted and all submissions need to be in by April 1st, 2026.

    • Your story can be any genre but must take place in the Star Wars universe.

    • Films can be up to 5 minutes in length.

    • Keep the file size below 1 GB.

    • MP4 or MOV files.

    • The film should be delivered in 1080p, 16:9 aspect ratio.

    • No use of generative AI. This means no AI-created characters, backgrounds, voices, or music.
